The New Zealand sun (seriously!)

The wedding is in February, which is the height of summer in northern New Zealand. It'll be warm, sunny and beautiful, so pack accordingly!

However, because of New Zealand's location on the globe and the weaker ozone layer in the south Pacific, the risk of sunburn is more real than your usual holiday destination.

Because of the imperfect shape of the earth and the thinner ozone layer in the south Pacific, UV rays are much stronger and will burn you much quicker than pretty much anywhere else in the world.

Even 30 minutes outside on a cloudy grey day can leave you with a nasty sunburn!

Definitely pack the sunscreen - at least SPF 50 with UVA and UVB protection is recommended. Make sure you cover every inch of exposed skin every morning and reapply regularly. We don’t want anyone getting a nasty burn on their New Zealand trip!

And remember, while for most of the world February is the depths of winter, it’s midsummer in New Zealand!

The northern parts of the country enjoy a subtropical summer climate with temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius (80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit) and humidity of 80% to 100%. Pack accordingly - but bring a couple of layers too as the island climate can change quickly and unexpectedly!
